Christine Grant. President Casey’s Cause
On behalf of Casey’s Cause, I would like to express what Camp Charley
means to our organization as well as what it means to our family
personally.
On January 25, 2007, our daughter Casey Marie Grant passed away
following a massive intracranial hemorrhage just nine days after being
diagnosed with ITP. In the months that followed, I spent many hours
researching and contacting other families affected by this platelet
disorder trying to understand more. During that same time a group
of family and friends came together to form Casey’s Cause with the
mission of honoring Casey, spreading awareness and education about ITP
and raising money to be used towards research. As an organization,
we continue to believe that funding research is very important, but
we hoped for a way to have a direct impact on the lives of children
affected by ITP. Through Pamela Ford, we were introduced to Camp
Charley and immediately knew this was a work we wanted to support!
Our family has attended the Camp Charley Spooktackular weekend the
last two years and it has been such an amazing experience. The smiles
we see on the faces of the children and the parents have been a huge
inspiration to us, and then in turn I can express the joy that is felt
to the Board of Casey’s Cause. We greatly appreciate the opportunity
to be involved in such a fantastic experience for these kids and hope
to be able to continue to support Camp Charley ITP weekend.
Personally, I feel as though through supporting Camp Charley I can
make a difference in the lives of these children. It is incredibly
important to me to be able to spread joy in their lives, as it brings
great joy in mine to be associated with the only Camp available to
children with ITP. Casey was a very loving and giving child and I know
that she would be proud to know that her name is a part of such a great
and important work!
Sincerely,
Christine Grant, President Casey’s Cause
